Met Henk Vermeer als BBB-leider wordt populaire Mona Keijzer gepasseerd 20.02.2026

The Boer Burger Beweging (BBB) is experiencing an internal shift in direction, with the party board opting to return to its agrarian roots and consequently bypassing popular figure Mona Keijzer as the next party leader. Keijzer, who served as the interim Minister for Asylum and Migration and garnered over 100,000 preferential votes in the last election, will not succeed Caroline van der Plas. Instead, Tweede Kamer member and party co-founder Henk Vermeer is slated to take over the leadership. This decision comes after the BBB's seat count halved in the recent elections, which had focused on asylum and migration under Keijzer's premiership candidacy. Vermeer and Van der Plas advocate for the BBB to re-emphasize its identity as a party for farmers and rural areas, aiming to avoid becoming a diluted version of the PVV.
