Met verdwijnen van Stichting Mainline, wordt gevreesd voor meer drugsoverlast op straat 11.03.2026

Stichting Mainline, an organization dedicated to the health of drug users, will cease operations this year due to the withdrawal of national funding, leading to the loss of valuable knowledge and research data collected by its fieldworkers. This organization supports aid agencies for addicted homeless individuals and provides harm reduction services, such as distributing clean needles and offering conversations with social workers. Mainline's work, including training for aid workers and research into the health of young drug users, is crucial for organizations like Stichting De Regenboog in Amsterdam. Despite increased municipal funding from Amsterdam, the loss of the €300,000 national subsidy is unsustainable for the nationwide organization, raising concerns about increased street drug-related nuisance and a shift towards repressive measures.
