Meta is expanding the global availability of its AI-powered customer support bot, now called the Meta Business Agent, within WhatsApp Business, and also on Instagram DMs. After nearly two years of testing in markets such as India and Mexico, the AI agent is designed to enhance business operations by answering customer inquiries, suggesting products, scheduling appointments, and qualifying sales leads, with the ability to escalate complex queries to human agents. Meta is also piloting features like daily chat briefings and insights, and plans to introduce capabilities for market research and calendar management. The company intends to monetize the AI agent through its WhatsApp Business Premium subscription tiers for smaller businesses and a token-based model for larger enterprises, while also developing a platform for custom enterprise agent creation.
