Meteoritenfund im Burgenland? Experten untersuchen Gestein aus Familiengarten 16.06.2026

In Zagersdorf, Burgenland, a family discovered a rock in their garden that is highly likely to be a meteorite. The object, several centimeters in size, was found after a hole appeared in the roof of a woodshed, prompting a neighbor to jokingly suggest a meteorite. Two rock pieces and a splinter were subsequently found. Experts believe the meteorite could be approximately 4.5 billion years old, originating from the early solar system, potentially from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The family has handed the find over to the Natural History Museum, and further analyses are scheduled in Dresden, with results expected in six to eight weeks.
