Michigan man arrested in wife's disappearance during Bahamas boat trip 09.04.2026

Brian Hooker, 59, a Michigan man, was arrested on Wednesday, April 8, by the Royal Bahamas Police Department in connection with the disappearance of his wife, 55-year-old Lynette Hooker. Lynette went missing on Saturday, April 4, during a nighttime boat trip from Hope Town to Elbow Bay off Great Abaco Island. Brian Hooker reported that his wife fell overboard from an 8-foot dinghy while carrying the boat keys, and strong currents carried her away. However, Lynette's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, has expressed skepticism, citing her mother's maritime experience and describing the couple's relationship as volatile with a history of domestic violence. The U.S. Coast Guard is also conducting a criminal investigation into the disappearance, which has transitioned from a search-and-rescue to a recovery operation.
