Micro-island in Las Tunas generates 12 MW and restores vital services 07.07.2026

Following the collapse of the National Electric Energy System on Monday, the province of Las Tunas managed to establish an electrical generation "micro-island" at 2:00 AM on Tuesday. This system, which generates approximately 12 MW by linking northern sites with the provincial capital, has allowed for the restoration of vital services such as health centers, drinking water pumping stations, and the food industry. The provincial director of Health, Ariel Guevara Bringa, confirmed that hospitals such as Ernesto Guevara and the provincial pediatric hospital remain operational. While circuit rotations are being executed to supply the population, the national recovery process is advancing from west to east, with the goal of reaching the Felton thermoelectric plant in Holguín to complete the total restoration of the interconnected system.
