Microsoft plans Linux tools and an RTX Spark desktop for Windows developers 02.06.2026

Microsoft's Build developer conference highlighted its strong focus on AI with announcements like Microsoft Scout, an Autopilot agent for Microsoft 365 data tasks, and "Codename MDASH," a system for detecting and fixing software vulnerabilities. A significant hardware reveal was the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a compact developer PC featuring Nvidia's new RTX Spark chip and up to 128GB of memory. This new Dev Box, designed with an aluminum heatsink casing, runs Windows 11 Pro with developer-centric settings and tools. It serves as a successor to the Windows Dev Kit 2023 (Project Volterra), which was powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and aimed to support Arm-based development, paving the way for faster code translation and increased availability of Arm-native applications.
