Millions for the wharf, broken streets for Petit-Goâve 08.06.2026

Petit-Goâve is facing a severe deterioration of its road infrastructure due to increased heavy truck traffic serving the city's wharf, which has become a strategic supply point for the Grand Sud following circulation difficulties in Martissant and Mariani. Every day, trucks transport essential goods, generating significant revenue for the region. However, Petit-Goâve's streets, particularly Grand-Rue, were not designed to withstand this intense traffic and are now broken, making circulation difficult, dangerous, and causing accidents, such as a recent one where a truck hit electrical installations. Despite residents' complaints and accumulating damage, local authorities, the police, and relevant institutions are slow to provide solutions, raising questions about their inaction and lack of planning, such as establishing dedicated routes or limiting circulation hours.
