MIM and ZNM presented the new Code of Journalists 07.07.2026

The Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) and the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (ZNM) in Skopje promoted the new Code of Journalists of Macedonia. This document is a modernized ethical framework adapted to the digital era, social media, and artificial intelligence. The amendment process began in 2024 and was finalized in 2026 as part of a project to strengthen professional standards. ZNM President Mladen Chadikovski emphasized that the Code is a "new agreement between journalists and the public," where core values such as truth and fact-checking remain unchanged. The new document introduces, for the first time, guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in newsrooms, while simultaneously emphasizing that technology cannot replace human responsibility. At the event, Aleksandar Kržalovski from CMC warned that the key challenge will be the consistent implementation and monitoring of its compliance.
