According to current estimates based on a prepared government regulation, the minimum wage in the Czech Republic could increase significantly by 2,500 CZK starting next January. This would raise the amount to 24,900 CZK, while by 2028 it could reach 26,900 CZK. This proposal is based on new coefficients, which would correspond to 44.6 percent of the average wage next year and 45.8 percent in 2028. The tripartite body is to decide on the specific regulation. Current data from the Information System on Average Earnings show that approximately 4.9 percent of all employees in the Czech Republic currently receive the minimum wage, representing about 181,000 people. This increase will have a fundamental impact on the standard of living for those with the lowest incomes in the country.
