MinSalud seeks to create an indigenous health system worth $300 billion: alerts raised 03.07.2026

The Ministry of Health has published a draft resolution for public comment, establishing the rules for executing up to $300 billion intended to support the closure of the operations of the Indigenous Association of Cauca (AIC EPS-I) and facilitate the implementation of the Own and Intercultural Indigenous Health System (SISPI). The AIC EPS-I has operated as the insurer for the subsidized regime for indigenous communities, serving as its own EPS. The SISPI proposes that the health system for these communities operate under its own organizational model, administered by the Indigenous Territory of the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca (CRIC), with an approach that integrates conventional medicine and ancestral knowledge.
