Miriam González Durántez, a lawyer, businesswoman, and wife of former British Prime Minister Nick Clegg, has taken a concrete step toward her potential entry into Spanish electoral politics. Through third parties, she registered the party Democracia 21 with the Ministry of the Interior on June 24. The party is registered in the name of Alfonso Sánchez-Macián, and its website is registered to Roberto Álvarez Carretero, a member of España Mejor. González's team asserts that this is a preventive "administrative procedure" and that a firm decision to run has not yet been made. The final name of the candidacy could change if it comes to fruition.
