The Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (Mitra) has received 1,340 applications for its Uyarvu Madani Grant Programme within five days of its launch on June 29, approaching the 1,500-application target. Mitra director-general N. Raveendran Nair confirmed that the programme, launched by Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, is drawing strong interest from Indian community entrepreneurs seeking financial aid to expand their businesses. The application period is scheduled to close on July 1, but Mitra may end the exercise earlier if the target is reached before the deadline. Of the applications received, only 700 eligible entrepreneurs meeting programme requirements and selection criteria will receive grants of up to RM50,000, depending on business categories.
