MK Party suspends Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi pending corruption investigation 02.06.2026

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has suspended Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi, their Chief Whip appointed in February 2026, pending an internal investigation into corruption allegations. Mokoena-Zondi is currently out on R30,000 bail for allegedly extorting approximately R233,317.99 from four parliamentary staff members between August and December 2024 by demanding 50% to 60% of their salaries for Jacob Zuma's legal costs. Party spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu confirmed the suspension, stating it was approved by President Jacob Zuma and that Mokoena-Zondi must surrender all party assets. Philasande Mkhize has been appointed as the new Chief Whip.
