Mölder complains about the rights of non-affiliated MPs 08.06.2026

Tõnis Mölder, a non-affiliated member of the Riigikogu (Estonian Parliament), has approached the Speaker of the Riigikogu, Lauri Hussar, seeking clarification on the limited rights of non-affiliated MPs. Mölder believes that the situation, where a non-affiliated member cannot substitute for a faction member and cannot participate as an observer in the work of special committees, places MPs in an unequal information space and contradicts the principles of parliamentary democracy. He referred to previous practices where non-affiliated MPs could substitute for other members in committee work and demands a legal explanation to change the situation. Other non-affiliated members have also inquired about the same issue, while Hussar has given an informal response that such a procedure will remain in effect.
