Morbihan : baignade déconseillée sur des plages après des plaintes de baigneurs et surfeurs 23.02.2026

Following complaints of vomiting and diarrhea from swimmers and surfers at Toulhars beach in Larmor-Plage, Morbihan, the mayor, Patrice Valton, initiated water quality testing on February 20 and February 23, 2026. Initial results on February 20 indicated "average quality seawater with mixed values but below regulatory thresholds," which did not warrant a ban but advised caution after heavy rainfall. A further sample was taken on February 23 due to current weather conditions and potential pollution risks in the Lorient rade. The municipality, in conjunction with the ARS Bretagne, is monitoring the situation, and while no new complaints have been reported, bathing is still discouraged as a precautionary measure. Ploemeur has also advised against swimming due to potential post-precipitation water quality degradation.
