Telford and Wrekin Council is intensifying efforts to combat a significant willow plant invasion at Muxton Marsh, a Site of Special Scientific Interest within Granville Local Nature Reserve. The council has already invested £39,000, including £9,000 from Severn Trent, and the water company is providing an additional £10,000 to fund ongoing work for the next five years. This renewed funding aims to protect the marsh's diverse wildflower grassland, marshy fen, and wet woodland habitats, which are being compromised by the willows' drying effect on the fen. Contractors will employ specialized machinery to minimize environmental impact during the eradication process.
