Sadness has cast a shadow over artistic and cultural circles in Morocco following the announcement of the death of the famous artist and storyteller Rekraki El Yasini, known by the nickname 'L'Garaa,' one of the most prominent pillars of the art of Halqa (street storytelling) and folk comedy. For long decades, the deceased brought smiles to the faces of Moroccans generation after generation, transforming simple words and folk tales into an authentic spectacle that defied time. With his passing, Morocco loses one of the last pioneers of the storyteller generation who preserved the traditions of the Halqa, evolving it from a mere means of entertainment into a space for awareness, social critique, and the transmission of popular values.
