Mort de Quentin Deranque : la gauche sociale-démocrate se divise sur l’attitude à tenir vis-à-vis de Mélenchon 20.02.2026

Following the death of Quentin Deranque in Lyon on Thursday, February 12th, due to an assault by antifascist militants, prominent left-wing figures Marine Tondelier and Olivier Faure have adopted a low media profile. This reticence is reportedly linked to the recent questioning of several parliamentary collaborators of LFI deputy Raphaël Arnault, who founded the Lyon-based group "Jeune Garde," implicated in the incident. While Faure's team emphasizes the need for "measure and appeasement," Tondelier's entourage dismisses concerns, stating they are "in campaign." Tondelier, a presidential candidate for 2027, appears to be carefully managing her relationship with Jean-Luc Mélenchon's movement, choosing instead to condemn "political violence" originating from the "far-right."
