Mort de Quentin Deranque à Lyon : un proche de Raphaël Arnault reconnaît les violences mais pas les coups mortels 19.02.2026

Jacques-Elie Favrot, an assistant to Insoumis deputy Raphaël Arnault, admitted on Wednesday, February 18, to participating in the violent clashes that led to the death of Quentin Deranque in Lyon on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Favrot, however, denied delivering the fatal blows, stating it was not a planned ambush. The incident occurred during confrontations between anti-fascist and identitarian militants who were present for a far-right feminist movement's action against the visit of Insoumis MEP Rima Hassan to the Institut d'études politiques de Lyon. Eleven individuals were arrested, including three close associates of Deputy Arnault. Despite calls for his resignation from political figures like Bruno Retailleau and Gérald Darmanin, La France insoumise has affirmed its support for Arnault, with coordinator Manuel Bompard questioning the basis for holding an employer responsible for employee actions.
