Brigadier Alexandre Lanckbeen, a member of the 35th Parachute Artillery Regiment, has died from a gunshot wound to the head sustained on Saturday, February 14, 2026, during an alcohol-fueled incident at the Percy Army Hospital in Clamart. His condition had been critical since the shooting. The Paris military governor, Loïc Mizon, announced his death with profound sadness, expressing condolences to his family. Three soldiers involved in the incident have been indicted, including the one suspected of firing the 9mm projectile. The soldiers, deployed for Operation Sentinelle, were reportedly consuming alcohol despite a strict prohibition on the hospital grounds, with blood alcohol levels ranging significantly among them, including 1.57g/L for the suspected shooter. The incident reportedly involved testing each other's reflexes with a weapon.
