Mount Everest: Missing Sherpa found alive after 6 days 04.06.2026

A Nepalese Sherpa guide, Dawa Sherpa, aged in his fifties, was miraculously found alive near Mount Everest base camp on Thursday, nearly a week after going missing on May 29. He was last seen returning from an expedition between Camp III and Camp IV after failing to reach the summit. Sherpa survived without food, water, or supplemental oxygen in treacherous conditions, including navigating the Khumbu Icefall after seasonal ladders were removed. Rescue efforts were reportedly delayed due to issues with his expedition's paperwork, as he had permits through one company but was climbing with another. This incident highlights the extreme dangers and logistical challenges faced on the world's highest peak, where nearly 500 permits were issued this season, with at least five fatalities reported.
