Mouza Al Hamrani, an Emirati illustrator and multimedia designer, is turning her personal camera roll of thousands of cat photos into a two-day mini solo exhibition, "Minor Events Involving Cats," taking place on June 27 and 28 at Jebal Al Balad Cafeteria in Sharjah. The paintings feature her cats Memao, Pimpao, and Batboot, but rather than straightforward portraits, Al Hamrani constructs an imaginary world filled with shifting alliances, territorial disputes, and household drama. She describes the tone as "cat politics," with scenes depicting conquests of the living room and fights for food. The concept evolved from years of storytelling with her brother Ahmed, who helped develop humorous, exaggerated backstories—such as one cat being "an accidental royal family member lost and brought to the UAE."
