Mundial 2026 aún no dispara las reservaciones en Airbnb de la CDMX, revela estudio preliminar 14.06.2026

A preliminary study presented at the UNAM indicates that the 2026 FIFA World Cup has had a limited impact on Airbnb reservations in Mexico City thus far. The research, conducted by Yesua Martínez Torres, a doctor in Urban Studies, analyzed Airbnb bookings within a 10-kilometer radius of World Cup stadiums in five host cities across Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Mexico City shows the lowest occupancy rate at 28.2%, significantly lower than Vancouver (54%), Toronto (46.9%), Seattle (41.2%), and San Francisco Bay (35.2%). The study suggests that tourists prefer areas with broader tourist offerings, such as Roma, Condesa, and Polanco, over those near the stadium. While Mexico City has the most Airbnb listings among the evaluated cities, reservations around the stadium have not seen a substantial increase. The researcher posits that a potential rise in demand might occur during the final rounds of the tournament, especially given the unique distribution of matches across three countries and potential mobility challenges for fans.
