Municipales 2026 : va-t-il y avoir des unions à gauche entre LFI et le Parti socialiste au second tour ? 23.02.2026

La France insoumise (LFI) is signaling a willingness to form alliances with other left-wing parties, including the Socialist Party (PS), for the second round of the 2026 municipal elections. Mathilde Panot, LFI's national assembly group president, stated that LFI would propose unity if they lead in the first round, aiming to defeat right-wing and far-right candidates. Manuel Bompard, LFI's coordinator, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing a culture of left-wing parties uniting between rounds. However, tensions with the PS remain high, particularly following the death of far-right militant Quentin Deranque in Lyon, with collaborators of LFI deputy Raphaël Arnault implicated. The PS, through its secretary general Pierre Jouvet, expressed caution, ruling out national agreements and requiring LFI to clarify its stance on political violence for any local alliances.
