Mutmaßliche Treffen mit Drahtziehern: CIA soll früh von Plänen der Nord-Stream-Angreifer gewusst haben 19.02.2026

According to research by "Der Spiegel," the CIA was reportedly informed in spring 2022 about plans by a Ukrainian commando to sabotage the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines. The investigation suggests initial meetings occurred in Kyiv between US intelligence personnel and alleged masterminds, where the attack idea was first discussed, followed by months of technical detail discussions. Ukrainian participants reportedly believed the CIA offered support, possibly financial. However, by early summer 2022, US representatives allegedly rejected the plans, deeming the operation unacceptable. The CIA has denied these findings, calling the report "extremely inaccurate" and "completely false," though "Der Spiegel" stands by its sources. The pipelines were damaged by explosions in September 2022, with German investigators and media pointing to a Ukrainian commando.
