The government aims to save €400 million by shifting hospitalisation charges, leading to a rise in the daily hospitalisation forfait from €20 to €23 and the emergency room forfait from €19.61 to €23. Furthermore, as of April 1, 2026, the forfait for medical procedures costing €120 or more will increase from €24 to €32, affecting hospitals, clinics, and private practices. These increased charges will primarily fall on "responsible" mutuals, which represent 98% of contracts, prompting criticism from professionals who view this as the government offloading its financial burdens.
