Narayan-Butwal Road: Paving Completed in the Eastern Section 04.07.2026

The construction work for the Nagdhunga–Mugling road expansion project has failed to progress at the expected pace. Out of the 94.66-kilometer road being expanded at an estimated cost of approximately NPR 11.43 billion with concessional loan support from the World Bank, physical progress in two sections remains below fifty percent. With the onset of the monsoon, the under-construction highway faces increased threats from floods and landslides. Although the project has been divided into three sections for upgrading, citizens will be forced to endure arduous journeys during this monsoon season. Physical progress has reached 84 percent in the Nagdhunga–Naubise section, while work in the Naubise–Malekhu and Malekhu–Mugling sections stands at only 42 percent and 43 percent, respectively. With approximately 13,000 vehicles traveling this highway daily, the failure to complete construction on time is forcing thousands of citizens to undertake risky journeys.
