NASA moon landing candidates revealed 19.04.2026

NASA is preparing for the Artemis IV mission in 2028, aiming to land the first astronauts on the Moon since the Apollo era concluded over 50 years ago. This historic mission is expected to include the first woman and the first person of color to walk on the lunar surface. While the Artemis II crew has just returned, they, along with candidates from the 2020 'Artemis Team,' are being considered. Notable potential astronauts include Dr. Jessica Meir, with extensive spaceflight experience and a historical all-female spacewalk connection; Dr. Jessica Watkins, recognized as the first Black woman on the ISS for a long-term mission and a skilled geologist; Stephanie Wilson, a veteran astronaut with over 42 days in space; Andre Douglas, a backup for Artemis II; and Randolph Bresnik, who plays a key role in Artemis mission development. International participation is also likely, with potential candidates like Japan's Suwa Makoto and Britain's Dr. Rosemary Coogan.
