National Dialogue nominees accuse Cyril Ramaphosa of sidelining them 12h ago

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s flagship national dialogue initiative faces a significant legitimacy crisis following an urgent application in the Gauteng high court. Applicants Gordon Lesley Rolls, Precious Mamile Sikhosana, and seven others are suing Ramaphosa, the National Dialogue Steering Committee, and Nedlac to prevent their exclusion from the process. The legal challenge alleges that properly nominated representatives from the Immigration Sector were sidelined because the Presidency failed to issue formal appointment letters, despite their prior participation in meetings and elections. The applicants argue that these administrative delays should not invalidate nominations made through recognized sector processes. They are seeking a court order to compel the Presidency to recognize them as legitimate representatives and to issue formal appointment letters within seven days. This legal dispute threatens to undermine the inclusivity and representativeness of the nation-building project before it can fully gain momentum.
