The Bangladesh government has declared November 7th as a national public holiday, to be observed as National Revolution and Solidarity Day with full state honors. This commemoration marks the 1975 civil-military uprising that resulted in the release of then army chief Ziaur Rahman from captivity in Dhaka cantonment. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat, where Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani briefed the press on the outcomes.
