Een sneltoets voor de vergunning van een lelieteler zit er niet in 23.02.2026

A ruling by the Council of State requires a bulb farmer in Drenthe to obtain a nature permit for cultivating lilies near the protected Holtingerveld nature area, but obtaining such a permit is complicated by a lack of established regulations. This uncertainty affects bulb growers who use significant amounts of pesticides, as the assessment of these substances does not account for the protection goals of Natura 2000 areas, and crucial data for adaptation is missing. Wageningen University & Research (Wur) is investigating the issue, with lead researcher Bas Buddendorf noting that a quick assessment for permits is not feasible due to insufficient knowledge about exposure routes and effects on nature. The research confirms that agricultural pesticides reach deep into Natura 2000 areas, a finding previously indicated by environmental organizations, though the former minister of agriculture, Femke Wiersma, expressed skepticism about the data's quality. The study also highlights that the cumulative effects of pesticide cocktails are not considered in current risk assessments, and while individual attribution is difficult, the need for permits remains.
