NDLEA Arrests 93-Year-Old Suspect, Medical Doctor Over Skunk, Cocaine Trafficking 12.04.2026

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has conducted a series of intelligence-led operations across eight states, resulting in significant drug seizures and arrests, including a 93-year-old man and a 69-year-old medical doctor. In Osisioma Local Government Area, Pa Friday Ahukanna Chigbu was apprehended with 7.7 kilograms of skunk, admitting to smoking the substance since 1959 and engaging in trafficking for over a year. Simultaneously, an Ivorian national, Gohouri Michael, was intercepted at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport with 1.49 kilograms of cocaine, leading to the arrest of his Nigeria-based accomplice, Dr Chudi Daniel Ofomata, a medical practitioner in Ogun State, who was found with controlled substances. These operations, part of a broader strategy against local and international drug syndicates, also yielded seizures of skunk, cocaine, illicit pharmaceuticals, and codeine syrup in states like Niger, Ogun, Imo, Borno, Lagos, and Edo, with one seizure in Edo involving 7,245 kilograms of skunk.
