Nearly 200,000 diesel drivers tap Budi Madani scheme in three days, MyKad rollout hailed smooth 04.07.2026

Within the initial three days of its launch on July 1, the Budi Madani Diesel (Budi Diesel) programme has successfully registered nearly 200,000 private diesel vehicle owners, according to Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Johan Mahmood Merican. The initiative, which allows eligible individuals to purchase diesel at RM2.10 per litre, utilizes MyKad for individuals and fleet cards for commercial entities. Merican reported minimal accessibility issues, characterizing the rollout as smooth and comparable to previous targeted subsidy programs. The Budi Diesel program aims to curb subsidy leakages by directing financial aid directly to intended recipients, with an estimated 400,000 private diesel vehicle owners in Peninsular Malaysia and 300,000 in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan expected to benefit.
