Neo-Nazi group White Australia loses bid for temporary immunity from hate laws 04.06.2026

Neo-Nazi group White Australia has been denied temporary immunity by the High Court, which dismissed its bid to block its designation as a prohibited hate group under new anti-hate laws enacted following the Bondi terror attack. The organization, attempting to register as a political party, argued that being classified as a hate group would lead to its "extinction." The High Court's chief justice, Stephen Gageler, rejected the request for an injunction on Thursday. White Australia is also contesting the broader constitutionality of these laws, with a hearing scheduled for September. The group was declared a prohibited hate group in May by Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke, who stated that its predecessor, the National Socialist Network, had rebranded as White Australia and continued operating.
