Netanyahu says Israel will continue to strike Hezbollah ‘wherever necessary’ 09.04.2026

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on April 9 that Israel will continue to strike Hezbollah "wherever necessary" to restore security to northern Israel, following deadly airstrikes on Lebanon the previous day. These strikes, which occurred on April 8, reportedly killed over 200 people and wounded more than 1,000 in Lebanon, according to the Lebanese health ministry. Israel's military stated it had eliminated over 200 "terrorists" in the preceding day, bringing the total to over 1,400 in the ongoing campaign. The Israeli military also reported striking key crossings and weapons storage facilities used by Hezbollah. In response, Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel, citing a violation of a US-Iran truce. Lebanon's prime minister declared April 9 a national day of mourning.
