Germany is facing widespread flood warnings across ten federal states due to a significant thaw and anticipated rainfall. Temperatures are expected to rise sharply, with some regions like the Upper Rhine potentially reaching 19 degrees Celsius. Heavy rain is forecast, particularly along the Alps, where 40 to 60 liters per square meter could fall within 36 hours. Several river gauges have already reached alert level three, indicating potential flooding of properties, basements, and roads. The risk is particularly high in southern Germany, including Upper Franconia and the Upper Bavarian Forest, with Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Schleswig-Holstein also experiencing flood alerts.
