Bericht aus Berlin Neues Heizungsgesetz für kommende Woche angekündigt 22.02.2026

The German government, comprised of the SPD, Greens, and FDP, has announced plans to present the key points of a reformed heating law next week. SPD parliamentary group leader Matthias Miersch indicated that despite significant disagreements during negotiations, he is optimistic about presenting a positive outcome. He acknowledged that the previous iteration of the law had caused uncertainty among citizens and that heating installers had requested a less bureaucratic approach. Jens Spahn, his counterpart in the Union, also expressed confidence but highlighted the challenge of balancing affordability for citizens with climate protection goals, emphasizing the need to reduce CO2 emissions. The law, known as the Building Energy Act, mandates the gradual replacement of oil and gas heating systems with climate-friendly alternatives, with ongoing debates surrounding funding and transition deadlines.
