New information on the Itäväylä accident: Multiple emergency calls – this is how the taxi driver was found 03.07.2026

Police have released new details regarding an accident on Itäväylä, where a taxi driver drove over two people. Eyewitness observations played a decisive role in the driver's apprehension. Police received the alert around 12:30 AM, and the taxi driver was found in a parking garage a few kilometers from Itäkeskus shortly after 2:00 AM. The arrest proceeded peacefully, and the police did not contact Taksi Helsinki.
