Transport Minister Anthony Loke recently launched the MyKLIA Monthly TravelCard (MTC) and MyPutrajaya MTC, new monthly rail passes offering reduced fares for Malaysians working at KL International Airport (KLIA) and civil servants in Putrajaya or Cyberjaya. Provided by Express Rail Link (ERL), these passes aim to make commuting more affordable and encourage public transport use, indirectly reducing fuel consumption as part of the government's response to the Middle East crisis. The initiative, trialled for three months with possible extension, absorbs the price difference through the concessionaire without government expenditure, targeting to improve the current ridership rate of approximately 60%. Employers at KLIA are urged to register staff directly with ERL to ensure pass eligibility.
