The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has issued final draft guidance recommending insulin efsitora alfa, a weekly treatment for type 2 diabetes. This new jab, also branded as Onswik and manufactured by Eli Lilly, is said to be as effective as daily insulin injections but requires only one injection per week. This would reduce the annual number of injections from 365 to 52, a decrease of 86 percent. However, the treatment has not yet been approved by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and health officials are awaiting its ruling to determine if it can be rolled out on the NHS.
