Waris Klana Hulu Muhammad Faris Johari has been officially named the 11th Undang of Sungei Ujong following a ceremony held at Telaga Undang on April 22. The appointment was conducted in accordance with the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan 1959 and witnessed by various traditional leaders and state officials. Muhammad Faris, a 29-year-old accountant, succeeds Datuk Mubarak Dohak, who was recently removed from the position by the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang. The removal of Mubarak, one of the four principal ruling chiefs of Negri Sembilan, was based on 33 specific reasons cited by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. This transition remains contentious, as the four Undang of the state have collectively disputed the legitimacy of the recent constitutional proceedings.
