New York : Face à l’approche d’une tempête d’ampleur, le maire de la ville interdit les déplacements 22.02.2026

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has declared a state of emergency and imposed a temporary travel ban for its over eight million residents in anticipation of a severe snowstorm. This storm, described as the most significant in a decade, is expected to bring between 45 and 60 centimeters of snow, potentially exceeding 70 centimeters in some areas, along with powerful winds. The travel ban will be in effect from 9:00 PM on Sunday until noon on Monday, leading to the closure of all city streets, highways, and bridges to vehicular traffic, including cars, trucks, scooters, and electric bikes, with exceptions for essential and urgent travel. This measure comes weeks after a previous severe storm impacted the region, which caused over 100 fatalities.
