Nicolas Sarkozy demande la confusion de ses deux peines définitives dans les dossiers Bismuth et Bygmalion 23.02.2026

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy's legal team has requested the consolidation of his two definitive prison sentences from the Bygmalion and Bismuth cases. The Paris Correctional Court is reviewing this request, which argues that the six-month firm sentence in the Bygmalion affair, finalized on November 26, should be considered served due to his electronic monitoring for the Bismuth case between February 7 and May 12, 2025. The Bismuth case, concerning corruption and influence peddling, resulted in a three-year sentence with one year under electronic monitoring, finalized in December 2024. The Bygmalion case, related to illegal campaign financing for his 2012 presidential bid, led to a one-year sentence with six months firm, finalized in February 2024. This consolidation is permissible under French law if specific criteria regarding separate procedures, successive offenses, and similar penalty types are met.
