Nicolas Sarkozy devra-t-il porter un bracelet électronique pour sa condamnation dans l’affaire Bygmalion ? 23.02.2026

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is seeking to have his six-month prison sentence for the Bygmalion affair considered served, arguing it should be merged with the time he already spent under electronic surveillance for the Bismuth affair. The Paris Correctional Court heard this request in a closed-door session on Monday, with a decision expected on March 9. Sarkozy was convicted in the Bygmalion case on February 14, 2024, for illegal financing of his 2012 presidential campaign, a conviction that became final on November 26. He previously served over four months with an electronic tag for the Bismuth affair, which involved corruption and influence peddling. If his request for sentence confusion is granted, he may avoid wearing an electronic bracelet for the Bygmalion conviction. Sarkozy is also scheduled to face a retrial in the Libyan financing case starting March 16.
