Niedersachsen: AfD-Krisensitzung wegen Vetternwirtschaft – Internes Team soll „Posten-Kartell“ überprüfen 24.02.2026

The AfD's leadership convened a crisis meeting in Berlin on Monday to address serious allegations of nepotism and misuse of faction funds within several state chapters, particularly in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. A special review team will be dispatched to Lower Saxony, where internal accusations of a "jobs cartel" and demands for staff budget kickbacks have been made against the state chairman. The party's executive board also discussed potential personnel consequences, with leader Alice Weidel reportedly calling for the resignation of Deputy Faction Leader Stefan Keuter over allegations of employing a close associate. Meanwhile, FDP Vice Chairman Wolfgang Kubicki cautioned against focusing solely on the AfD, suggesting nepotism is a broader issue across political parties and advocating for comprehensive investigations into all parliamentary employment practices.
