Nieuwe BBB-leider Henk Vermeer: 'Vertrouwen in Mona Keijzer is geknakt' 24.02.2026

Henk Vermeer, the new leader of the BBB party, stated on Tuesday that his confidence in Mona Keijzer as a potential faction leader has been broken due to her private discussions with Markuszower without prior consultation with the faction. This revelation follows significant internal unrest within the BBB after Caroline van der Plas announced her resignation as party leader on Friday, with Vermeer, her right-hand man and co-founder, being appointed as her successor. Keijzer, who was promised the leadership after the late October elections and secured a substantial number of votes, expressed her departure from the BBB on February 23, 2026, citing a major breach of trust. Vermeer acknowledged Keijzer's frequent threats to leave but emphasized that her undisclosed conversations with Markuszower eroded the necessary trust, leading to the decision to not merge factions and asserting that the BBB would not be taken over.
