Nigeria : Des attaques djihadistes menées dans sept villages font des dizaines de morts 19.02.2026

On Wednesday, jihadists from the Lakurawa group launched attacks on seven villages in Nigeria's Kebbi State, resulting in dozens of deaths. The violence occurred in the Arewa administrative area, with a security report indicating over 30 civilians killed in five villages as residents attempted to resist the assailants. This incident exacerbates the ongoing insecurity in northwestern Nigeria, characterized by the dual threat of jihadist groups like Lakurawa, which has links to the Islamic State in the Sahel, and criminal gangs known as "bandits." Security forces have been mobilized to apprehend the perpetrators, and authorities are working to stabilize the situation and urge calm among the population. The increased violence has drawn international attention, including US airstrikes in neighboring Sokoto State on Christmas Day.
