BREAKING: Nigerian Police Invite Activist Israel Joe To Abuja After Condemning Delta Command Mass Raid, Illegal Arrests By Adejobi's Men 17.04.2026

Human rights activist Israel Joe has been summoned to Abuja for questioning by the Nigeria Police Force's Force Intelligence Department (FID), with a letter dated April 8, 2026, requesting his appearance on April 10, 2026. The police cite allegations of a missing person, cyberbullying, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace as reasons for the interrogation, stating his name featured prominently in an ongoing investigation. Joe, however, asserts that this invitation is retaliation for his public condemnation of a controversial raid and alleged illegal arrests, vehicle seizures, and extortion by Delta State Command officers led by Deputy Commissioner Muyiwa Adejobi. He claims approximately 270 individuals were arrested during the two-day operation, which also involved raiding a restaurant and impounding vehicles, and he questions the legality of the arrests and subsequent lack of charges. Joe has publicly challenged Adejobi to a legal battle, accusing him of forum shopping by threatening legal action in Osun State and has refused to retract his allegations.
