Authorities in Cyprus have arrested nine individuals in connection with a scheme to create and distribute fraudulent tenancy agreements. The criminal ring allegedly used forged stamps to produce these documents, which were then supplied to foreign nationals. These individuals reportedly used the fake agreements, along with other documentation, to apply for student registration with the Famagusta aliens and immigration service. The arrests took place between April 17 and April 28, 2026. The investigation has concluded, and the case has been brought before the Famagusta district court, with all nine suspects currently held in custody until their next court appearance on May 15, 2026.
